Edward Garou
Classic horror, Theatre du Grand-Guignol, pop art, Old Hollywood, Art Deco posters and Phi are the main influences on the art of Eddie Garou. He utilizes photography, graphic design and digital manipulation to capture the essence of everything from the intensely natural to the uniquely bizarre. In addition to producing art, Eddie Garou is actively involved in a number of charities, mainly Housing Works, is a member of two high I.Q. societies (Mensa and Interel), and holds a Masters of Science in Organizational Behavior. He's also a writer for iPhoneography, a website about photography with the iPhone.
Eddie was born in Brazil, adopted, raised in Queens, went to college in Manhattan, grad school in Brooklyn, and is now residing in an unusual part of the Bronx. Needless to say, his dedication to New York is solid! Although well traveled, having been to Greece, Paris, Italy, Brussels, Britain, Austria, Hungary, Spain and the Czech Republic, among other places, he nonetheless concludes each time that, although beautiful, "it's simply not New York."
