Jonathan Joseph Peters
Jonathan Joseph Peters is a native Rhode Islander and womenswear designer. Throughout his life, Jonathan studied several artistic disciplines. During a stint in New York City, he was cast on season 7 of “Project Runway.”
As an expert in studio art and apparel design, Jonathan crafts garments that double as multi-media artworks. In addition to StyleWeek Providence, he has showcased in several national and regional fashion shows, including New York Fashion Week and Portland Fashion Week.
As Creative Director and VP of Brand Development for StyleWeek LLC., Jonathan shows his commitment to Providence’s growing fashion industry. He works tirelessly with the StyleWeek team to create a viable platform that promotes the careers of other young artists.
His avant-garde, Zingara Lamina collection encompasses the idea of a fashion-hungry survivor of the post-apocalyptic and sun-baked world. Zingara Lamina means “gypsy” and “layer.” Jonathan’s lead character, Zingara, searches for bits of silks, velvets and sparkling jewels that the world's expired inhabitants left behind. She expresses her victorious survival by layering colors, textures and jewels. On the runway, Jonathan complements his collection with jewelry and accessories by House of Cach. Their thought-provoking designs deeply inspire him. You can see more of Jonathan’s work at jonathanjosephpeters.com
